India’s first Research and Innovation Lab on Cyber Threat Resilience launched at IIITM-K, Trivandrum

India’s first Research and Innovation Lab on Cyber Threat Resilience (CRICTR) was launched at IIITM-K, Trivandrum  by Dr. Gulshan Rai, National Cyber Security Co-ordinator, Govt. of India and Mr Madhavan Nambiar, IAS (Rtd),  Chairman of the Board of Directors, IIITM-K  during the International  Workshop on Cyber Threat Resilience held at Technopark, Trivandrum on 13th October 2015. The Workshop was jointly organized by IIITM-K and the Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersy, USA  as part of the ongoing joint collaboration between the two institutes.

Around 300 participants from various academic institutions, R&D establishments, Government Departments, Industries and IT Corporates participated in the Workshop. An array of distinguished dignitaries and practicing professionals from India and abroad spoke  and shared their thoughts and experiences on the current issues of Cyber Security and Cyber Resilience to Critical Infrastructures, during  the Workshop.

Mr. P.H. Kurian, IAS, Principal Secretary (IT), Mr. Manoj Abraham, IPS (Inspector General of Police, Kerala), Mr. V.K. Mathews (Founder & Executive Chairman, IBS), Prof. N Balakrishnan (Professor, IISc, Bangalore) and Dr. K P Subbalekshmi (Professor, Stevens Institute of Technology) spoke on the occasion.

There were a series of Short Talks on Cyber Security by Dr. Georgios Portokalidis ( Professor, Stevens Institute of Technology),  Dr. R Chandramouli  (Professor,Stevens Institute of Technology), Dr. Dilip Krishnaswamy (IBM, IRL),  Mr. Thanu Das (Scientist & Dy Head, VSSC, Trivandrum) Dr. Gregg Vesonder (AT&T Labs, Adjunct Professor, Stevens Institute of Technology, Dr.Tony Thomas (Asst. Professor, IIITMK, Trivandrum), Mr. B. Ramani (Executive Director, CDAC, Trivandrum),  Mr. T Mohan Dhas ( State Information Officer, NIC, Kerala)

Two Panel Discussions were also held during the Workshop. Panel on  International Collaborations, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was moderated by Dr. C. Jaishankar Prasad (KSUM), Dr. Gregg Vesonder (Professor, Stevens Institute of Technology), Dr. Nicholas Bowen (Professor, Stevens Institute of Technology) ,  Dr. Elizabeth Sherly (Professor, IIITMK, Trivandrum)  and Mr. Binu Sankar (Assistant Director, E&Y).  Prof. S. Rajeev (IIITMK, Trivandrum) and  Mr. Sanjoy Sarma (Chief, Product and Services, Tata Power)  participated in the deliberations.
