It  all began there; in 1990 the then Chief Minister E.K. Nayanar, Industries Minister K.R. Gowri Amma, and a team of officials, went to Silicon Valley and Standford University to study the possibility of setting up high-technology industries in the state. There they witnessed a different world with hundreds of women at work, building computers with robots whirring amid them. Nayanar, who until then believed that computerisation would put an end to jobs, immediately gave green signal for the project. That trip to the United States marked the turning point in the IT history of the state and country.

The very next year, foundation stone for the first building in Technopark was laid on 31st July, by Kerala Chief Minister, K. Karunakaran. Technopark was formally dedicated to the nation by the then Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao in November 1995.

Park Centre, Pampa and Periyar, followed by Nila, were the first buildings to come up on the campus which followed a trigger in the metamorphosis of the city from a sleeping hub of government employees and politicians to a vibrant city of techies. Adding to that, anything and everything in the city has then got something to link with Technopark. From a tea vendor to the improved flight connectivity, paying guest apartments to ever-increasing high-rise buildings, business hotels, autowalas to late night buses and taxi services etc.

From just five companies in the beginning, Technopark is home to over 330 companies that employ over 47,000 people and provide indirect employment to some 2.5 lakh others. Housing many giant IT companies like Oracle Corporation, Infosys, TCS, along with Ernst & Young Global Shared Services Center, Allianz, RR Donnelley, UST Global, Tata Elxsi etc, Technopark is growing beyond any limits. It also provides a perfect platform for budding entrepreneurs and serves as a cradle for start-ups in the state.

Marking twenty-five long years of countless successful stories and moments of pride, Technopark is aspiring for greater heights to achieve. The tech hub is emblazoned in joy of the nearing big day, 5th August 2015 which is the most prideful moment in the history of this techy giant. The techies are whizzing around their Tech park with events and preparations for this grand eventide. Adorned with greenery and illuminations, the tech hub is all set to welcome the big day of utmost celebration and delight.
