TEJUS, an NGO run by a group of Techies, has bagged the ‘Best NGO’ award for conducting maximum number of blood donation drives in the state. TEJUS received the award from senior politician, Shri. V S Achuthanandan, during the World Blood Donor day celebrations at VJT Hall, being organized by All Kerala Blood Donors’ Society and Terumo Penpol Private Limited. The theme of this year’s World Blood Donor Day, is “Blood connects us all”.

Since its inception, TEJUS has been instrumental in mobilising and facilitating over 6000 blood donations so far. Of these, 1798 blood donations were supported in 2015 and 1698 donations this year, as of June 2016. Through their efforts and immense support from various organizations, TEJUS has conducted 17 blood donation camps in 2015 and 12 this year.

PRAJYOT, a TEJUS initiative, organizes trips to RCC and other hospitals on case to case basis. Marching forward towards achieving 100% self-sufficiency in blood donation in the coming years, a cab plies donors between Technopark and the hospital. With whole-hearted support and transportation provided by IBS Software and D+H Solutions, donors are able to comfortably participate in blood donation on a regular and scheduled basis. In the current PRAJYOT schedule, IBS sponsors 5 six-seater cab trips to RCC and D+H sponsors 2 eighteen-seater cab trips every month.

These life-empowering PRAJYOT trips are facilitated by the all-women team of TEJUS, which includes its members – Revathi, Anu, Sajina, Nimmy, Kavitha, Parvathy, Karthika, Suja, and Vidya.

iDONATE, is another initiative, which is aimed at conducting blood donation camps in various building lobbies and premises of Technopark companies. This initiative is a huge success and interested companies can join hands with TEJUS in conducting iDONATE camps. Ratheesh (VSSC), Suresh, Krishnaprasad, and Sajina are the coordinators of iDONATE camps.
