‘Go RED’ – A Healthy -Worthy day in Technopark

Each year on December 1st, people all over the world observe World AIDS Day in the hope and pray for an AIDS free generation. From the simple act of wearing a red ribbon to the act of blood donation were initiated on Dec 1st at Technopark with a Go RED campaign. On Dec 1st, over 46,000 employees, workers and visitors of Technopark wore red ribbon in solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS. Series of action and awareness programmes were organised in collaboration with Lords Hospital and healthcare delivery platform mobD. It is notable that more than 2,100 employees at Technopark signed up for a voluntary blood donor database and on-the-spot blood donation by 42 employees. The day-long event, Go RED campaign got a good start as Shri M Vasudevan, Senior Manager (Business Development) inaugurated blood donation camp, held at Park Centre with the help of a unit from the General Hospital . The organisations such as Natana, Prathidhwani, Tejus, eWIT, Techfriends along with Radio partner 92.7 BIG FM gave support to Go RED to make it a successful venture. A walkathon was flagged off by CEO, K.G Girish Babu in which more than 500 techies took part. Lords Hospital Vice Chairman and mobD CEO Harish Haridas and Allianz Cornhill Information Services Managing Director Rakesh Gupta participated in the walk, along with company CEOs, HR Heads and employees.

Following the culmination of walkathon at the Technopark amphitheatre, the employees pledged to spread the awareness on HIV/AIDS. “As one of the largest IT parks in the country, Technopark is proud to help trigger changes by taking-part in the global efforts to fight HIV/AIDS”, said Technopark CEO Girish Babu. Winners of the online poster designing contest on the Technopark Facebook page were also announced at the event. Krishna Chand, Rajesh K P and Santhosh Kumar received first, second and third prizes respectively. On the whole, Go RED became the beginning act for a cause which should be carried out through initiatives like this to improve the health and quality of life.
