‘Farewell at Gate No. 6’, a comedy set in IT premises directed by Suraj Fasiluddin from Allianz Cornhill has won the Best Film award at the second edition of Qisa film festival conducted by Prathidhwani, a socio cultural organization of employees in Technopark, Trivandrum.
‘A Braille Letter’, a film about environmental awareness directed by Manu S Kumar from UST Global bagged the second Best Film award. Mohammad Sohal from NeST who directed a witty ‘Ulkka’ has won the Best Director award. Jophin Varghese and Karthik Ravikumar, both from UST Global, jointly bagged the awards for Best Script and Best Actor for their film ‘Thirakalil Olippicha Manaltharikal’. ‘Celebrations’, a sarcastic take by Anu Suhas from Ariva Med Data Infotech got the Special Jury mention.
Twenty seven movies done by techies working in Technopark were screened at the festival held on December 14, 2013. The films were focused on various issues like society, environment, emotions and lifestyle. There were laughing jerkers and thought provokers too.
The jury comprised of film critic, M F Thomas; writer & columnist, Vinu Abraham and writer & film critic, Sulochana Ram Mohan. The distribution of awards and the screening of award winning movies will be held on December 19 at the Technopark amphitheatre. Vineeth Sreenivasan will give away the awards. ‘Liberators’, a film produced by Prathidhwani that looks at the burning transportation issue will also be screened on the occasion.
Qisa is film festival for techies and by techies working in Technopark. The fest is a platform for film-makers and film enthusiasts working there to explore short cinema. It is a great opportunity for these techie film makers to showcase their creativity.
Founded in April 2012, Prathidhwani has a three dimensional vision to contribute to the cultural, technical and social aspects of the society. They have conducted various cultural programmes, organized training programs and also participated in various social aspects of the tech society.
