Empowering Women in IT (eWIT) is an organization formed in order to improve the lives of women inside the vast tech hub. It’s important that there exists an organization to look after the concerns of women in Technopark, as they together constitute almost half of its population. Women have been integral to the tech hub that has grown by leaps and bounds in the past decade. Women feel safe and secure and are able to wok peacefully without any other hassles in the serene environment of the campus.

Life of each woman has its share of ups and downs, It is important they do not loose hold of the fast changing environment in the IT space while trying to cater to the needs of family. Ewit intervenes at this right juncture enabling women to smoothly balance their personal and professional life.

Their Vision, Objectives and Activities are as follows:-

Vision

  • To become a sustainable medium of communication and collaboration for women in IT/ITES, to enable them to be enriched, educated and empowered to live their life to its fullest potential.

Objectives

  • Expand the women workforce at all management levels in the IT industry
  • Enable women to tread the career path by equipping them with necessary skills
  • Facilitate women’s quest for a better work life balance in IT Sector

Activities

eWIT Trivandrum will be focusing on the following activities in an attempt to achieve the objectives set forth above:

  • Promoting IT as a preferred career choice for women starting from the college level.
  • Providing hands on training programmes to enhance soft / leadership skills to make them more effective and enable them to take on higher responsibilities.
  • Provide mentoring / counselling services.
  • Take on relevant projects that would facilitate women to pursue their careers (eg. Expanding the network and day care centres, etc.)
  • Act as preferred voice of women in the IT industry to take up women-related issues with corporates and governments.
