A high-level delegation from Botswana led by Pako Orabile NKWE, First Secretary (Economic), High Commission of Botswana, visited the Technopark campus on Friday (11/010/2013) evening to seek support for the development of information technology (IT) in the African nation.
The visit was a follow-up to discussions initiated in August. Mr. Pako was accompanied by Bathseba B. Mbongwe, Director, National Internship Programmes, Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs, and Priya Iyer, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Director – Employability and Development. The delegation was received by Technopark Senior Business Development Manager M. Vasudevan and Technopark Chief Financial Officer K.C. Chandrashekharan Nair.
Presentation
Mr. Vasudevan made a detailed presentation on the activities of the park, including the developments in Phase II, Phase III, Technocity, and Kollam.
Dr. Nair briefed the delegation on the business incubation programmes of Technopark. “We are happy to see foreign governments showing a keen interest in the infrastructure provided by the Kerala government for IT growth for investments.
“Our discussions with the Botswana delegation have been very positive, and we are looking at associating with them,” he said in a press note issued here.
He said Botswana was seeking support from Technopark to create an IT ecosystem similar to Kerala, , and attract investment by technology companies.
He also promised support for Kerala-based IT/ITeS companies to set up operations in Botswana.
Team visits TCS
The delegation visited Tata Consultancy Services and held discussions on ways and means to cooperate for the development of human resources required for the IT industry in Botswana. It also visited the incubation facilities.
