An exemplary life is all he left behind. A role model, a master and the architect of electronic revolution in Kerala. Shri. Kunnath Puthiyaveettil Padmanabhan Nambiar, the visionary technocrat who was the backbone and master brain behind Technopark and Keltron passed away in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Mr. Nambiar was born on 15th April, 1929, in Kalliasseri village, Kannur District. With a very humble beginning, the little boy had to walk 8kms from his village to reach his school in Thaliparambu. After his graduation in Physics from Madras University, he joined the Imperial college of Science and Technology, London in 1951. Started off his career as a research scholar in semi-conductor technology, it took him no time to flourish in USA with his vivid knowledge and potential in the field.
He returned to India, under a Scientist pool scheme initiated by Late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, to bring back talented Indians working abroad. This made a remarkable change in the electronic history of the state and country as well. His career moved conquering his dreams, missions and ambitions to build an era of digitalisation and technology. He formed the first Chairman and Managing Director of Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KELTRON) and made significant contributions in making the institution a catalyst in the development of electronic industry in India.
He retired from Indian Government service in 1989 and served as Honorary Special Advisor to the Government of Kerala. Another breakthrough in his career changed the phase of the state capital, with his acute vision and clear perception in propagating innovations through establishing a tech hub in Trivandrum. Technopark was thus set up under the aegis of Mr. Nambiar as the Chairman. The magical synergy of technocratic brains and technology under his supervision made the new step a massive success. He very well knew which way the world was heading. He had been part of that drift for years, realizing the dramatic increases taking place in technology and helmed the start of a new revolution.
Even after his demise, the brilliant mind behind the utmost development will remain as a mighty power churning out its triumph in all the days to come.
