T-TBI’s Technology Innovation Zone to model Silicon Valley

 

The desire and dream for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Silicon Valley is to be arrived soon as Technology Innovation Zone at Kerala. The State plans to offer the same opportunities at Kerala with its ambitious project, Technology Innovation Zone (TIZ). Under the authority of Technopark- Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI) has planned for a full-fledged TIZ within a month. T-TBI bought land of 13.2 acres in a lease agreement for the TIZ project. The TIZ is to set up by T-TBI at Kalamassery and the proposed 3 lakh-sq. facility aims to recreate the facilities at these premier institutions. The intention of TIZ is to be a one-stop shop for technology innovation and incubation, where everything from conceptualisation of an idea, incubation, mentor and a squadron of angel investors is present.

“The innovation zone will take the State’s entrepreneurship philosophy to the next level by expanding incubation facilities beyond telecom, IT and biotechnology provided by Startup Village and Biotech Park. We have identified about six to eight other industrial sectors, which could possibly cover areas like electronics, agriculture, tourism etc.” said Infopark CEO Hrishikesh Nair with the additional charge of T-TBI & Innovation zone project. TIZ would have a fab-lab, and data centre on a green campus with solar power and rain water harvesting and it would provide a complete gamut of supporting system ranging from a SOHO (small office home office) concept followed by premier institutions, convention centre, dormitories, food courts, amphitheatre and exhibition lounge. Along with this, Startup Village and the Biotech Park is fast progressing and on the path of growth.
